Somewhere along the way I decided that Schweppes Limon was my favourite drink. If I see it while I’m travelling, I buy it. It just became a thing unto itself, a habit I can’t break; I try not to drink soft drinks that often, but I always make an exception for this particular beverage. I’ve found it all over the world, its label written in Russian and Thai, Hebrew and Romanian, Arabic and Portuguese. No matter the country or the language of the label, it always gives me a little thrill to find it, to treat myself.
Is there a particular product (drink or snack, for example) that you often see and/or buy when you travel?

This post was in NO WAY sponsored by Schweppes. I just really like the drink.

I love this post! (And that is definitely a tasty drink.)
I wish there was some fun little snack or drink I look for (and photograph) all over the world, but the reality is that I go for all the snacks.
My favorite are the NZ bottles. Very stylish.
Yes, I think the NZ bottles are the best, too. Thank you for your comment!
It is sold in the UK as Schweppes Lemon (made with real lemons).
It is not as good as the continental version. Reading the ingredients list, much of the real sugar has been replaced with sugar substitutes including Aspartame and Sodium Saccharine which rather than quenching your thirst, make you more thirsty.
This is due to a new UK law which taxes sugar to reduce teenage obesity.
I always try to sample the local beer in whatever country I’m visiting at the moment. My favorites are Efes (Turkey), Mythos (Greece), Tiger (Singapore), and Phoenix (Mauritius… and this one is delicious!). The funny thing is that all the local beers I try are not only cheap, but usually really good.
Yes! I always try the local beer, too. I’ve had some terrible ones, but I’ve had some really, really great ones, too. One of my favourite travel memories ever includes the sharing of some Efes beers in Istanbul!
I fell in love with this drink while I was living in Florence! I haven’t really looked for it in the U.S., but now I’m determined to find it. I agree with the other commenters. The NZ bottles are fabulous!
Does it even exist in North America? I feel like I only see it when I’m travelling on another continent!
Haha this is awesome! I don’t think there’s a particular food/drink I get everywhere, but I have noticed that Nutella from different countries has slightly different consistencies/tastes!
Oh really? I’ve never noticed that about Nutella! Yet another reason to keep buying it in different countries…
Ha! This is awesome – don’t be surprised if this concept becomes Schweppe’s next ad campaign. In Martinique there is ‘Schweppes Coco’ which tastes like coconut…DELICIOUS.

Whattttt! I want to try the coconut flavour!
I fell in love with Limon in Paris in 2011, it was always in the vending machines in the Metro and I got hooked. I was really bummed when I got back to the US and couldn’t find it – I emailed Schweppes to make sure, and they verified that it wasn’t sold here. I can still remember the taste!
I know, I can’t believe it isn’t sold in North America! It is so good. Thankfully they have something similar in the UK – but I still always look for a bottle when I travel.
Thanks for your comment!
What’s the similar in the U.K!? I’m looking for this everywhere after my trip to Lanzarote. My mum bought me some back in the suitcase! Ahah
I had Schweppes Limone for the very first time from a street vendor in Rome a few weeks ago, and am trying to figure out how to buy it in Minnesota. It was so good! Is it the same as their butter lemon or is the beverage I had in Italy the same elusive flavor of Cadbury Dairy Milk Golden Crisp candy bars that I fell in love with in Ireland? I can’t believe they don’t sell it here!
I just spent a week in Barcelona and was thrilled to see the drink there and drank it often (I had first gotten hooked on it in Paris in 2011). It’s really disappointing that it isn’t available in the US. There’s a dryness to it that lemon-lime stuff here doesn’t have, and all US LL sodas are almost sickly sweet in comparison.
