Hey! Are you trying to figure out which countries aren’t shitholes? I’ve carefully put together this great list of countries for you. Some of them are struggling right now, some of them are facing poverty, famine, war, natural disasters, and political strife, but all of the countries on this list are home to citizens who deserve respect and who deserve to be treated without assumption, judgement, or insult. All of them are countries of origin of regular people who are trying their best – either in their home countries or as immigrants – to survive, work hard, contribute to society, and make their lives and the lives of their loved ones happier and healthier.

Short and to the point, very appreciated. I am so sorry for the man running my country, shame is all we feel. I am so disappointed in the system and fellow citizens for electing him.
I’m looking at this as a time that we can all, no matter where we come from, join together to create a world that celebrates diversity, togetherness, and peace. I often feel discouraged but that feeling also motivates me to do more and do better.
So am i. Can’t believe we’re actually asking is he a racist? The Haitian ambassador , bless his heart, stated that the President was “misinformed and miseducated”. More like uniformed and uneducated and doesn’t seem to care. Very sad.
Well said.
Thank you. 🙂
*applause*
Thanks 🙂
I like this list, although I’m not sure anyone has ever referred to Germany as a shithole!
North Korea may be a shit hole, but I’m not sure it should be anywhere people strive to visit. While the people are incredibly friendly, it is a state-run tour which ignores all the flagrant human rights violations. Just something to be aware of. While you are being treated to Korean BBQ, North Koreans are eating rats and tree bark. I’m also studying this so a bit obsessed!
Hey Natalia, the point of this cheeky post was that it lists every single country in the world, whether or not they’ve been called a shithole 😀 I wouldn’t necessarily recommend visiting all of these countries right now, which is why I didn’t say that anywhere in the post; I would personally never visit North Korea until things drastically change, as I don’t agree with how the government treats its people (I’m aware of what happens when tourists visit, and it is indeed terrible). Regardless of what I think of their governments, however, I don’t believe that anyone deserves to be told they live in shithole countries.
Yes! Thank you for saying what I’ve been thinking <3
Thank you <3
Well said!
Thanks!
Bravo!
Thanks 🙂
Such a positive response to such a terrible comment. You’re right. As much as I cannot stand Trump, he is, unfortunately, the president of my country. The best and most positive thing we can do is come together and try to make the world a better place, together. Thanks for this. 🙂
Thank you, Lindsey, and I hope for a better, kinder world, too.
Yes! Well said!
Thank you 🙂
That’s why you’re my freaking, favorite travel blogger!! You’re the best!!! The point is we should all treat each other with respect, no matter which shithole we’re from. Thank you, Brenna!
Aw, thanks a lot, Sheryl-Ann!
Haha… my island Trinidad and Tobago listed lol….
Love this… Im rethinking my plans to visit different states in usa … spend my dollars elsewhere
I would love to go to Trinidad and Tobago one day!
You are so right , Brenna. No country deserves to have their country refered to as a “shithole country”. There are some places that have bad areas but don’t lump the country with their people . That’s ignorant and you’re showing your true colors by making a comment like that . (See my blog post sportsandtravelblog.wordpress.com/2018/01/12 – what’s -The – matter -here )
There’s no denying there are some bad places in the world, but you’re right – nobody has the right to call someone else’s country a shithole! Thanks for the comment, Jo Ann 🙂
Yes, yes, yes.
Thank you 🙂
Yes, thank you!
Thanks 🙂
Any place can be called a shithole – as long as it’s your own country. You know it inside and out and so you get a free pass. Calling someone else’s country a shithole, on the other hand, is poor form, even if you know it well.
I totally agree. If you want to call your own country a shithole, that’s your prerogative!
So well said, thank you, Brenna!
Thank you, Bea!
LOVE this post, you’re the best!
Thanks, Lizzie!
Love this post,
like world citizens we must be united against discrimination and violence.
All my love and support

I agree – thank you for the comment, Eduardo!
Hear! Hear!
And you’re absolutely right.
Each and every country in the world has their positives and negatives. Some are wealthier, more beautiful, less liberal than others, but each country has the right to exist, and not be judged as ****holes.
That’s just unpresidential, and very, very rude!
Just saw this… but I still agree!! Thanks, Victoria 🙂
This, right here, is why you’re one of my favorites.
Just saw this… thank you 😀
Nicely put!!!
Thank you 🙂
Thanks for putting Iran up there 🙂
I am Persian but have not been back since I was 4 years old. I think the people there deserve so much better. Well written !
Thank you, Nicci 🙂
I saw a few of them that execute gays, jail women for meeting unmarried men, are vicious dictatorships and so on. They sure as fuck are shitholes.
Do I agree with the politics of every country in the world? Absolutely not, but you’re missing the point of this article. You’re also two and a half years late to this post, which was relating to a very specific xenophobic and anti-immigrant comment made at that time.
