Koh Tao, Thailand
It’s so strange to be in this world again, the world in which you hastily pack all of your belongings, jump on a bus, fall asleep, and wake up in a surreal party land. The days of doing nothing but deciding where to eat, napping, and then drinking with people from all over the world are back. It’s such a shift from the life I was leading for the past 7 weeks in India and Nepal – there are young people everywhere, beers in their hands, tans on their faces. Chiang Mai so far seems relaxing and effortless, the complete opposite of the subcontinent…but you know what? I like it anyway.
This place will only lead to debauchery, I just know it.

Oh this made me grin. Reading this post hungover on a Sunday morning also seems to give it particular relevance 😉
I cannot WAIT to go to these places!!
Yes! You will love it! I had quite the evening last night; it seems there is always a party in Thailand!
Looks like you’re having fun! It’s always a blast to meet new people while travelling. It’s so easy to do because you already have your purpose in common…travel!
P.S. I awarded you the one lovely blog award. I love your travel blog and can’t get enough!
I really liked Chiang Mai and I had two of the best meals of my life at some of those outdoor food stalls there! I went there from Laos, so Chiang Mai actually seemed more frenetic in comparison when I arrived. Funny how where you coming from impacts your impression of where you go next!
Wow, thanks Hannah! I really appreciate that…
And Ekua, I totally agree – I imagine coming to Chiang Mai would seem so much different if I hadn’t just been in India and Nepal. All I know is, Chiang Mai has delicious food, great nightlife, and it’s super easy to meet people, all of which make it a pretty wonderful place!
